What to expect

Our first stop will be at the highest and oldest spot in Bucharest.
At the top of a hill awaits the splendid 17th century Patriarchal Cathedral. For instance beautiful murals, mosaics and magnificent decorations will astonish you here. Furthermore, the visit in the church is complemented by a panoramic view of the city.
Next we will drive on wide boulevards past the major squares. Thus, we illustrate the dazzling contrasts of a Belle Epoque city devastated by the bland architecture of Communism.
While still in the big city we will discover the Romanian countryside. So the Village Museum will take us to a forgotten and lost world.
In other words, the modest dwellings, small wooden churches and windmills found here form one of the biggest open air museums in Europe.
Back into modern times we will enjoy photo stops, flavored with tales from the romantic years of the monarchy to the horrific communist period.
For example, we will stop at the Triumphal Arch, the Romanian Athenaeum and 19th century French style houses on the bourgeois Victoria Avenue.
But the Grand Bucharest City tour is not complete without seeing the greatest structures from Ceasusescu’s dictatorship.
First we will go to the former Communist propaganda center: the Spark House. Then, at the party’s former headquarters, you will understand how oppressive the communist regime was.
Furthermore, you will learn that communism did not only leave its mark on people’s lives, but also on the city’s architecture. Surely the enormous ruin of the Radio House in the heart of Bucharest and the famous Palace of the Parliament will amaze you.
After all, this monumental construction saw over 20,000 houses destroyed in Bucharest.
The Grand Bucharest City Tour by car concludes with a relaxing stroll around the fascinating Old Town.
During the walk, you’ll discover such highlights as: Stavropoleos Monastery, Manuc’s Inn, the History Museum, the National Bank.
But don’t get too relaxed, as vampires may lurk near the Medieval Old Court, the former residence of Dracula.
